Talking Class action lawsuit against the Sarasota Sheriff's Office?

A class action lawsuit may be the only way to fairly address these unfair issues. Make sure that you keep good notes of dates, times, places, things and people that are involved. Did a SSO supervsor/lieutenant/captain/major/colonel interview you without putting anything into writing? Make sure you document what he said and when he said it. Document! Document! Document!

She sued one-on-one against the Sarasota Sheriff's Office and she won, but a class action lawsuit might be better suited for all the affected SSO employees to address all the crazy things that are happening at the Sarasota Sheriff's Office. A class action lawsuit isn't something that is going to happen in 24 hours. It will take time to find out who the affected SSO employees are and to interview them and to collect all the written and unwritten documentation. Did a SSO supervsor/lieutenant/captain/major/colonel interview you without putting anything into writing? Make sure you document what he said and when he said it. Document! Document! Document!

Several SSO employees have filed individual lawsuits against the Sarasota Sheriff's Office and have won. But if a class action lawsuit is filed and settled, it will have a greater chance of making positive changes for current and future SSO employees. Did a SSO supervsor/lieutenant/captain/major/colonel interview you without putting anything into writing? Make sure you document what he said and when he said it. Document! Document! Document!

One more time: Did a SSO supervsor/lieutenant/captain/major/colonel interview you without putting anything into writing? Make sure you document what he said and when he said it. Document! Document! Document!

It will take several months or even a couple of years to resolve. It's not a 24 hour band-aide fix. The wheels of civil justice grind slowly.

    Good! Count me in!

IMO it's not about me, but it's about making it better for FUTURE sso employees by trying to forcibly pave a path of fairness, integrity and respect.

For a class action lawsuit, there will be an open window when affected sso employees will be able to join in.

It's not about making money or getting revenge, but it's about making things right for current sso employees and for FUTURE sso employees. There comes a time when sso employees say "that's enough!!!" and they have to stand up for their rights --- and if they don't have any rights (under the current warped system), then they have to get the civil court involved to make things fair.

When I tell stories to my friends and neighbors about things that happen in our department, they can't believe it. It's like fictional TV show, but it's reality at the Sarasota Sheriff Department.

It's been kind of quiet up here lately, but this topic is a head turner on the second floor. There is a lot of laughing and ****yness and I don't think that Kurt Hoffman is worried about it. Pat Duggan basically just does what he's told.

Duggan hasn't got a clue. Hoffman had no role at all in any of the 3 successful lawsuits that paid nearly 1 Million dollars. He talks a big game but he had no input during any of the process. The county has all the money, not the SSO. At some point you would think the county commissioners would make the sheriff improve the process and change the things that need changing. The money comes from the county insurance company. At some point someone over there is going to get sick of these payouts and changes will be made. It looks like it may take another successful suit or two before that happens.

A class action lawsuit is completely different than one employee suing the Sarasota Sheriff's Office. The ballgame changes completely.

If there is a class action lawsuit, it couldn't happen at a worse time because the next sheriffs election is only a couple of year away. It would be bad press for our agency. However, with all the ****y crap that the administration has been pulling on SSO employees, maybe it's actually a good time for a class action lawsuit??? Absolute power absolutely corrupts.

It will be interesting to see how many SSO employees jump on-board the class action lawsuit. To the best of my knowledge, there's only about 15 employees right now, but when it's advertised, that number could grow significantly.

One attorney is surprised at how many SSO employees have come to their office.

    It's not about the money.

Most local Sarasota attorneys are afraid of the Sarasota Sheriff's Office and would never stand up to the 900 pound gorilla.
