I think he is doing a great job. He puts Morano in his place. He has a relationship with the command staff and the commission, all three of them. Most of us talk a lot but do not say anything when it matters, he does. Keep up the good work Rocco. If you still feel the same way in 2 years vote him out.

The police department that, despite the overwhelming complaints about speeding and traffic, dissolves its traffic unit. The department that bends at every whisper from the CM and sacrifices the safety of its own employees by lowering our staffing instead of taking a stand and saying 54...go ahead and try to gut this city’s public safety and see how the public reacts. The department that doesn’t do the right thing for the guys that are averaging. This place could be great. Instead we are going round and round the drain. How many of our new hires have long guns? When was the last time we had active shooter training? What is it a mission to find an officer a working pool car when their’s breaks down for the 11th time? We are so far behind the curve and our CM could give two shits. Until something happens. We are and will always be a reactive “department”. Our training unit is deplorable and they are not to blame. How much equipment could we have purchased for the cost of that state of the fart simulator? I get it. We all do. The CM is in charge and that’s fine. But why short your people? Why punish a senior officer who got the hey btw sorry your unit is now obsolete and you will work a road schedule and got upset? Same old mentality... disagree with them and off to alpha shift you go. To BSO or not is out of our hands.... but you are way beyond trimming fat and are cutting away at the meat and have been doing so for some time . And when shit hits the fan... when something happens and someone has to answer... they’ll have nothing to justify all of this aside from “sorry. We had zero ****s to give about training, equipment, and the people that make this place run day in and day out. My bad”. Forget using common sense and instead solving some of your issues by dissolving the golden child unit which would free up a sergeant, several officers, and a CSA to fill your voids and save you the money. Oh no not CIU... news alert... the community needs cops who are trained and equipped to deal with the issues at hand. PAL events and such are important, but that importance does not outweigh public safety. So instead of dissolving the traffic unit, flexing NETs hours, and hiring new cops and promoting... dissolve CIU (temporarily), fill that sergeant spot, fill the vacancies with those officers, bring the department to an efficient adequate level of functionality, and then a CIU unit can exist once again. And it’s not like you can’t have officers designated to attend city events when the need arises in the meantime. That would solve your need for bending and twisting to avoid paying 3 minutes of overtime and would save you how much on hiring and promoting? But what do we know? We are only on the frontlines and on the receiving end of it all. Maybe we are all just that stupid and don’t see the bigger picture and the silver lining. Wait I think I see it. Only it’s not silver... it’s green.
