1. Explain in detail the departments retirement plan. The department is full of officers who have been with Loveland 25-30 yrs who cannot afford to retire because there's no defined retirement plan.

2. Explain in detail the pay plan. The department will lead you to believe that their pay is competative with surrounding agencies....it's not! Top pay is advertised as the Performance Enhanced Pay level (approx. 70k). What they don't tell you is that this pay grade is not gaurenteed. In order to qualify you have to recieve two consecutive "consistently exceeds standards" performance reports. VERY FEW people get this and are stuck at the lower pay grade (approx. 64K) indefinately. Even if you are fortunate enough to get the Performance Enhancement, it's very easy to lose it if you don't maintain the conistently exceeds standards rating. Ft Collins PD, Longmont PD, Greeley PD, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office all have a step pay plan that gaurentees you higher pay than Loveland when you reach each step, AND it can't be taken away from you.

3. No educational assistance for college classes.

4. No gratuities allowed per policy. Forget about your free sodas and coffee at convenience stores.
