Re: k-9
DISH IT OUT! What is he changing? Getting rid of the useless K-9 and giving the Expeditions to someone that can really use them? Hope VACIS is next. Tits on a boar hog folks, tits on a boar hog.

Re: k-9
Back to the dog pound for the Heinz 57 dogs? That is just sad, you mean the state got tired of providing for a few strays that couldn't find a violation put in their own dog bowls?

Re: k-9
another logical way to cut the budget is to take away all the Sgt.s take home vehicles. do the math, and you'll see how many $100k's it would save per year to cut that program out.

Re: k-9
Why just Sgt. cars, why do any of them need a vehicle to drive from home to work while making 40K or more? Shoot the guys making 31K have to suck up a gas bill every day. If the grunts can afford to drive themselves to work why cant the fat cats?

Re: k-9
your absolutely right, no one from a Sgt. up to the Colonel NEEDS a take home vehicle. if budget cuts are needed, thats one of the first things that needs to go. Why hasnt it been done already?

Re: k-9
You cannibals make me sick. Just because something doesn't directly benefit you, you want it taken away. These K9 officers and supervisors may have to save your butt one day and you are trying to take things away from them.
Do you actually think for ONE SECOND that any money saved from cutting someone's take home vehicle will benefit you at all? REALLY? We should be fighting to help each other.
I am ashamed to work with anyone who posted the above comments in this thread.

Re: k-9
If they would have cut these useless programs in the past two years we would not have lost the positions that we did. We are looking out for each other. If a person has to loose the pedestal that they sit on along with a few perks to save a couple of jobs then so be it. To support these useless programs either means you are one that benefits from them or wants to. For the department to continue to support these useless programs shows lack of understanding and knowledge of the ramp. Get rid of K9, VACIS, and if means saving jobs get rid of take homes for Sgt and above. There is nothing cut-throat about any of this, it just makes good budget sense. Would we see any benefit from cutting these programs? No more than likely not, but it is better than seeing money wasted on programs that do not produce. They never have and never will. If TRS costs the department then get rid of it to. Accreditation is another wasteful and useless program that costs A LOT of money. It is nothing more than a scam cooked up by retired LEO's that need to supplement their incomes. Kind of like the PBA!
They have already cut into the every day officer's pocket by taking away the travel pay and limiting them to which rest area can be worked according to where the officer works. The everyday officer has already given up money along with already being short staffed due to past position cuts. There have been cuts to the muscle of this agency, it is now time to cut some of the FAT!
