Six month Review: New Board, but No Leadership
Here is a partial six month review.
The treasurer has not participated in a board meeting for the last three months in a row. He should resign or be forced out.
The region 4 director has not looked at the message board in more than two months. He could care less.
The president ignores the association new rules. He permitted members who did not pay dues to stay enrolled for four months past the date the rules required them to be kicked out. Why? He wanted to hide that more than 100 members resigned, the largest number is the association's history. The President ignored the rules to create committees at his first meeting. So why have rules? Why go through the charade of voting when the board intends to ignore the rules?
There was hope that the region 1 guy would be good. Then the members received his outrageous petition to get $180,000.00 in donations, separate from the registration fees, for the annual drunk this summer in New York City. Only 100 have signed up.

The new BOD is still wandering in the woods. Not much has changed.

Re: AFAUSSS New Board No Leadership
How many of the members are former GS-14 and above supervisors versus GS-13 and below street humps?

What's really interesting is those FORMER GS-13s you refer to who went on in retirement to have privately owned businesses and investments which have made some of them millionaires. We still call them by their first names too.
AFAUSSS is as egalitarian as you will find any association to be. Many retirees who were initially reluctant to join the association or attend meetings have been surprised to find that old animosities and resentments have melted away.
At a reunion you will find two principal kinds of conversation going on: a review of current aches and pains and retelling of old war stories. Later on there will be discussions of RVing, Cruising and other vacation experiences. Finally there will be plans for future social gatherings and the next reunion.
By the way, although the association is composed primarily of former agents, associate membership is open to other USSS employees, and spouses, particularly widows, are included. There are no class distinctions.
It would be contrary to the spirit of the association to capture and keep the kind of statistic you have inquired about.
Why did you ask? I suspect that you wanted to demonstrate that the membership is elitist. If so, you are simply wrong.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Enjoy the Kool-Aid.

The folly continues
The last few messages on this thread demonstrate another clear situation that a message thread starts on one topic (a clear and concise statement of facts that the BOD can answer or say sorry we screwed up), but no reply. Instead, the Board changed the topic and attacked the messengers who asked reasonable questions such as Why does the region 1 director need an additional $180,000.00 be raised for his NYC annual conference? This is $180,000 more than the costs the members will pay in their registration fees. What is that money needed for? No answer.
The question about pay grades in this thread goes to the fact that the annual conference is attended by 90% of members at the GS-14 or above. The board purposefully makes the events so expensive that only a handful want to go.
More observations of poor leadership. The BOD hired a new financial management firm to invest the foundations funds without asking for competing bids. The BOD hired the company whose sole claim to fame was that it donates money to run the Oldstar message board. Professional search? Not done.
Why are the number of members listed on Oldstar (list all) inflated by 100 persons from the names listed in the Oldstar (excel) membership list? People who did not pay dues still have access to Oldstar. Leadership? None.
