Must Be Idiot Cop Week

In a “mass email” authored by a Boston Police Officer, he calls Harvard Professor Henry Gates a “Jungle Monkey” among other racial slurs.

36 year old Boston Police officer, Justin Barrett, has been stripped of his badge and gun and relieved of duty without pay pending the outcome of a termination hearing after his department learned of the racially charged email he authored and sent to several other people.

According to BNO News:

“Commissioner Edward Davis has placed Officer Justin Barrett on administrative leave pending outcome of a termination hearing,” said Elaine Driscoll, who is a spokeswoman for the Boston Police Department. “Commissioner Davis was made aware that this officer admitted to being the author of correspondence which included racist remarks,” she added. Driscoll did not know how many people received the e-mail or at what date it was sent.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino called Barrett a “cancer in the department” and said he should be fired immediately, his office said.”

Harvard Professor Henry Gates is the African American man at the center of the controversy where he was arrested based on racial profiling by police while trying to enter his home last week. His arrest sparked a national controversy that even got comments by U.S. President Obama.
