Re: 5-8's
Too much unavoidable O.T. at shift changes on 5-8's. Not gonna happen. Make take a few more Officers to work the 10's but it saves money.

Re: 5-8's
Flush moral down the crapper even further. But I forgot they dont care about that anyway.
When a citizen complains that it took an hr or more for you to respond to their call, provide them the information STAFF and the City does not want them to hear (Officer, program cuts, no dui unit, staff shortage, dumping funds into a city boat slip, the muli million dollar beach walk, ect)..........have them call our ever so supportive City Manager with thier complaints and put it back on them since our hands are tied.

Re: 5-8's
5/8's were never created for the Officer Morale, when has the Chief ever worried about Morale, they were created to save the City from Over time because of the overlapping of squads. Klein has a short term memory issue among other things and will blow with the wind to survive politically. Watch the meeting on streaming video. The bigger issue is that the Matrix said to go to (8) hour shifts to reduce manpower positions, that is what is important here, it did not work at other agencies and it will not work here. Other than the love affair Klein has with the Sheriffs office, his new home for him and Baird, other surrounding agencies got away from 5/8's because they do not work. Pinellas Park, Largo, St. Petersburg, Hillsborough, Tampa and most every other agency has switched to 10's or 12's to reduce costs and overtime, the Sheriff will not because it will cut his Staff even further. So the Communication Center, the transport Grant, and whatever else Klein can do prior to leaving he will do to ensure himself and his self created legacy.....

You might want to get a life instead of just reading blog pages about a job in which you are not a part of. Seek medical assistance and medication if your problem continues.

Re: 5-8's
It's okay, 5-8's are fine, except for that fifth day.
Just wait and see... it will all work out automatically when:
Tritech and ACISS go live
When we switch to digital communications
The take home car program gets pushed through
etc. etc.
In the meantime brothers and sisters, I watch your back and you watch mine, 10's or 8's.

Re: 5-8's
I heard that a comparison was done and that 12 hour shifts will give the city the same savings. Why not go to 12's if it looks like there going to make the change no matter what, why dont we say fine, heres your savings and we go to 12's. This gives us more days off and weekends off very often. Lets not just sit back and do nothing, lets propose something that gives them the savings and saves our days off, who cares about an extra two hours a day.
