    MANATEE AND SARASOTA COUNTY — A man matching the description of the suspect in four previous bank robberies in the area held up a Bank of America branch this morning.

    The man walked into the bank, approached a teller with a green bag and demanded money. He made off with cash, but as he fled he dropped the bag of money in the parking lot and left the area.

    The sheriff’s office said the description of the suspect matched that given after three recent bank robberies in Sarasota County.

    He's a man in his 50s or 60s, standing between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with glasses and gray hair on the sides and balding on the top.

    He was arrested today at SPD. Probation officer tipped them.

    He was convicted of two counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery in 1992. In 2003, he was released and was given 11 years of parole.

    He admitted robbing nine Central Florida banks in a two-month spree while he was on parole.
