"Most Daring" : Boynton police hero

One of Boynton Beach’s finest will be featured Wednesday night on Most Daring, one of the shock reality shows on cable’s truTV.

Sgt. Tom McCabe, a 19-year veteran, helped rescue a suicidal man on a three-day crack binge who threatened to jump off the ledge of the I-95 entrance at Gateway Boulevard.

The five-hour ordeal last December unfolded before TV cameras as I-95 was shut down, creating a nightmare of early morning commuters.

McCabe tackled a man looking to attempt suicide while trying to ensure that his momentum didn’t cause both he and Young to fall 90 feet onto I-95. Neither man was seriously injured. The man was turned over to mental health officials.
