The Police is a private pension. It is as follows, if Im wrong someone jump in there to help me out.
Vested after 6 years, eligable for retirement @ 20 years. Multiplier is 3.152, Drop program available COLA kicks in after 5 years of retirement (or completion of the drop).

Also excess sick and vacation is paid out in one lump sum at the retirement time, to compute you salary as higher.
