Yeah. Study, ask questions, participate in the role-play scenarios, and PT your ass off before day 1. Then after the academy, don't tell your FTO "Well, in the academy they taught me how to do it like this".

Study what? Why don't we suggest that this person start by learning the Bill of Rights, the first Ten Amendments to the US Constitution. The Law of our Land!

Then research the most pertinent Florida State Statutes; learn the elements of the crimes therein. For the average person, the elements are clearly articulated therein.

We agree, never tell your FTO how you were taught in the Academy! Best ask, sir or ma'am how do you want me to do it? Like flatulence, keep your opinions to yourself, and learn what to do from some FTOs and what not from others.

Most importantly, learn how to write an intelligent report by answering the following:

what, when, where, who, why and how.

Who knows, even if you get recycled, one day -- with the right political connection -- you too might even get to be Director!

    Touchee, B4L!

One last piece of advice, as it was taught to me: If you can get your hands on a statute book, check the Legal Updates at the front of the book. This section provides a plain-english explanation of some very pertinent laws.

Buy a FL Statute book, know your US BILL OF RIGHTS, and don't f*ck the girl sitting next to you in your academy class during WEEK 1.

    Prep Time

Run every day, as you will in the academy. You will PT till you head falls off.
Get the Miami Dade Statute book. Learn the elements of the criminal offenses.
Take plenty of notes. Even if you don't think it's important. Shows motivation.
    Open ears-Close mouth.
Don't argue with any instructor, even if you are right. You can't win. You need them they don't need you.
Don't mess with opposite sex or have any sex with anyone at the academy in any class.
Don't reveal any of your personal life to any on your classmates.
Regardless of what happens: Don't speak about any instructor. It will get back to them courtesy of your fellow trainees. Walls have ears.
Your fellow trainees are trying to impress the instructors and will hand your azz up at any time......Remember that!!!!!. 8)
    Lastly Good Luck.....
