    pension issues

Why does most of our dues money go to fraternal events and not to labor items? We spend outrageous monies on banquets, picnics, Christmas parties, Police Olympics but when an important agenda like the pension is being discussed we don’t even have our accountant or financial planner at the meeting. No respect to the board or our members but were cops and the reason we pay our dues is to have qualified professionals looking out for us.

Sounds like a reasonable question to me. Lets see if we get an answer.

Look on your Clearwater pay stub, it's seperated on your stub. Labor dues go to labor and fraternal dues go to fraternal. They cannot be co-mingled nor can the officers and supervisors labor money be co-mingled, each goes to their own labor unit. Christmas parties and banquets are fraternal functions and are paid with fraternal dues. Labor representation, shootings and lawyer representation are paid with labor dues by each individual labor unit. Pension/contracts are paid for by each seperate labor unit with labor money from that individual labor unit. As far as pension and contracts FOP Labor Council paid for attorneys and several accountants for the pension talks. Any further questions should be directed to your labor representation or FOP state labor council. Hope this helps.

The reason you pay so much is because well, YOUR IT. If FOP was a Real National Union, then you would be part of something bigger, but due to contrary belieft. Your Not. Example.....All Lawenforcment in the State of Texas is represented by.. CWA. Yes.. CWA. If they cant deal with it locally, then it goes to the state level. Just like CWA in Clearwater. PAYING Union members with the City of Clearwater enjoy being represented all the way up to the state level. Thats a quick wake up call for those Non Paying City Employees that enjoy the Fruits of the Union without paying for it.........Think about that the next time your paying $135 per pay.....Now Everyone Together WHHHHHOOOOAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow the City employees in CWA in Clearwater enjoy being represented all the way up to the state level? Is that why they lost their step plan, what a great benefit, sign me up. Is that why they just lost their seat on the Pension board, sign me up. Is that why only 186 out of 700 employees are members because they don't get represented, where does the line begin? Now go away CWA man, and see if you can help Sarnoff find some members or some representation.
