where did you get that info from? i would like to see that for myself. FDLE stats show a different figure. FDLE has the data base of every officer profile in the State of Florida and what agency they are certified with.

Not to start a big pissing contest, but where did your numbers come from ? Last roster I looked at had 190 as the last radio number, and several gaps up the line. Even adding the 12 court security does not equal your 191. Not a challenge, just a question.

FDLE shows 190 as well. In 2001 FDLE shows 214. which would be 24 FEWER Deputies. Did FDLE change the way they counted the positions? not a challenge, just want to be better informed.

FDLE did not come over and count. Given the accuracy of UCR that FDLE gathers, I would not put any stock in numbers from them but assume they are in the neighborhood of the actual number.

FDLE registers the indivdual officer with each agency. (our certificate can only be held at one agency at a time. Therefore FDLE knows to the person, how many sworn LEO's are at each agency....

Dual certifed officers are counted in another section and may cause the numbers to appear out of wack.

If a certificate is at an agency it does not mean they are drawing a paycheck. Could be reserve, etc.

All those FDLE numbers are fine and good, but if you print a current roster, and count all the names of sworn LEO's who draw a pay check, you still get 173...and that includes the Sheriff and Majors. If you add court security to that, you get 185...reserves puts it at 194.

    .

Ok DDG here is the explanation that I have researched:
And anyone can do this, just by asking for a "PUBLIC RECORD REQUEST."

    In 01-01-2001....Sworn LEO'S.......140
    In 01-01-2001....Correctional......... 78

Now understand these figures were the the ones that Sheriff Hall took office with...... from the previous administration. So, in reality it is not certain if these were combined numbers, this is the only information that was recorded.

Now, since Sheriff Hall has been in office these are the most recent numbers as of 04-07-2008

    04-07-2008......Sworn LEO'S.......191
    04-07-2008......Sworn CO'S..........86

Now, do we know if FDLE is updated as of 04-07-08?
