How to save the City money

    1) Close Van Wezel or give it away. They can't sell enough tickets but it is a "vital" part of the community? Public safety is endangered because of a hiring freeze and downsizing... but the music plays on to empty seats!

    2) Reduce the City Commission from 5 to 3 city commissioners. This will save salaries, health care and other expenses...just like what is being done to other City departments. But keep those productive "Sister City" vacations coming!

    3) Reduce the City Manager's salary. He got a big pay raise over the previous city manager but now he is going to have less responsibility for less employees and a smaller budget so his salary should reflect that.

So your in favor of cutting back our dept.? Do you know how valuable our specialty units are to SPD. They make us look good, they save lives, they get the job done.....Im sure the SSO's do a great job for them as well. But there is a certain level of dedication from each depts teams. IF your ass is in a jam, do you want to see your own guys or someone elses?

It doesn't matter what the "rank and file" have to say the City has the final say so. The IACP results are in and sounds like it's gonna fall in our favor. So thank City Hall for flushing $80,000 down the crapper for what we have been telling them for the last year. Maybe they can think about all that money well spent while they drive in a never ending circle around the $800,000 round-about on S. Orange Ave. Another Bart-O-lotta production! The devil is amung us and his a poorly dressed, 4'7", cop hating, weazel, bent on lining his pockets while he turns the City into a his own little personal sideshow. Where's Suzan Stanton when you need him or her??????
Look for your pink slips in the mail,,,, because no matter what the Chief says the existing cuts only cover the current shortfall in funds, not the 6 million that needs to be cut next year! See you at the Sallie.................. breakfast starts at 0600hrs, come hungry.

I think what he is saying is to cut the special units we dont need. We need K9, and what not, but we dont need units like Crime Prevention, Some of these officers go on these senior trips to Oklahoma, Las Vegas, and such, and they get paid for it. If that aint a waist of money. Most of the time the road officers have to attend community functions anyway.
