Some news tidbits
After reading and watching the news today I have a couple of observations.
First off, the Winter Haven Police Department. Did anyone else see the story on FOX news tonight about their exploding guns. It seems the Winter Haven PD has had a couple of Glock firearms experience a major malfunction while firing Speer "Lawman" ammunition. It seems the round failed to properly fire and exploded in the chamber causing the entire trigger housing to be destroyed in the firing officers hands. Talk about an oh crap moment. It's bad enough when that type of thing happens at the range, but, if it happens in the field, I don't even want to think about it. Check out the story yourself on the Fox 13 website.
On to the New York Governor who resigned. It seems his honor was licking it and sticking it and it was'nt only to the voting public. He had a fling with a high priced callgirl while his lawyer wife sat at home. Now I don't condone what the man did but have any of ya seen the callgirl? She's hot. I seen the photo of her sitting on a boat in a two piece bikini and ya know what? She's hot! And now she wants to sell her story and start a singing carreer. Imagine that. Making money off of someone else's bad judgement. Sounds like a blood sucking attorney I've read about lately  Ohhh, but did I mention she's hot?!
And finally the Rays and Yankee's. There's been more fights during these teams last two spring training games than during the whole first half of the NHL season. Even Billy Crystal being out on the field cracking jokes could'nt stop all the ***** slapping that was going. Of course if you or I hit someone like these professional ball players did to one another we would be disgraced, fired, and arrested without question. These assclowns will just get a fine from the league and smack on the butt from their teammates. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting.
Have a great night all.

Maybe there is an issue with the quality of Speer ammo in general?

You did mention she was hot once or twice and she better be hot she cost thousands a hour. So what do you think she'll sing about on her cd? Do you think she might also want to be an actress as well? You know many porn stars use porn as a stepping stone towards becoming the next Hillary Swank or Meryl Streep. :P
I feel an Oprah Winfrey episode in the works here.
Speaking of smacking co workers on the butt are you saying that you don't slap your zone partners on the butt for a job well done like baseball or football players? On second thought nevermind that one, next thing you know someone will want a reacharound.

Sad to say, the office did not do its homework regarding the selection of the Glock .40 cal pistol as the new standard.
I am a dyed-in-the-wool Glock carrier and have several Glocks in different sizes and calibers. On the job the Glock is always my pistol of choice.
EXCEPT for the .40 caliber.
There is a large information base available regarding catatrosphic failures of Glocks in .40 caliber due to insufficient support of the base of the cartridge case in the firing chamber. For photos of the devastation that might result go to http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/glock-kb2.html
The photos speak for themselves. HOWEVER, be aware that the owner of the site (The Gun Zone) is very anti-Glock for personal reasons regarding damage to his career as a professional writer which he attributes to pressure on gun magazine publishers that was exerted against him by the Glock company.
And, also, with Glock the ammunition can also be an issue. Because of the tight grooves in their barrels they insist on using only factoy new ammunition --- never use reloads.
But, again, with regard to the .40 caliber, the photos speak for themselves. Check it out.

as far as the glock 22 .40. I am a fairly (not brand new) deputy and we were given a printout about a malfunction of this particular gun that was caused by constantly chambering and unchambering the same round as you would do when you clear the gun and put the round back in the mag and chamber the same round. I try to make a habit of rotating the stock shall we say to avoid this.
I personally have never had an issue with the Lawmen ammo, I am sure that most of you have fired much more than I have in your career, but that is just my observation. I keep a clean gun, but I wouldn't say religiously, I try to clean it about every 500 or so rounds and have never had an issue with the gun. I have been thinking about moving down to the smaller glock 23 .40 but haven't done so yet.

Update on the Speer ammo
I talked to one of the HCSO range instructors over the weekend about the issued Speer ammunition reference the Winter Park incidents. I trust this instructor 100% as he is a straight shooter (pardon the pun), but you can form your own opinion.
He stated that Speer did have an issue with a batch of ammunition a few years ago and subsequently recalled that ammo. His sources told him that Winter Park did not return all of the recalled ammo and a few boxes or cases surfaced again recently and were the cause of the failure.
Based on my experience, I don't think Speer practice ammo is top shelf stuff (Zero anyone????), but based on his response I don't feel that my duty ammo poses a personal threat to me. I have more fear of the new "fitness challenge" than I do my issued ammo.......

Blog, a whore is a whore, no matter if she is a 10 dollar special or getting paid thousands of dollars an hour. The price doesn't make one better than another. Hot? Yuck, she's still a prostitute.
