Thinking Outsied the Box
Many years ago Hawaii implemented a police vehicle program that went something like this:
The department would issue a list of approved vehicles.
The individual police officers would then purchase one of these vehicles.
The vehicles were financed through the department via payroll deductions, insured and maintained at no cost to the officer.
The department would outfit the vehicles with the necessary equipment.
The officers kept their vehicles for 5 years and took all of the tax write-offs pertaining to the vehicle.
After 5 years the cycle started again
Is this an alternative?

I don't think so. If you want to, you can use your own car but I'm not using mine. Offer that to Miami, MDPD or the Beach and see what they say. ops:  ops:  ops:  ops:  ops:  ops:  ops: :?: :?: :?: :?:

If you don't go to court, you get written up... right?
Is there a trick to it that I don't know, one that my FTO did not teach me?

No trick, just call in sick or have car trouble when you have court. Better yet, go to court when you are off duty and make the overtime pay but simply say you don't recall. That's it. Your FTO should have taught you that in phase one.
