APPLICATION
I RECENTLY COMPLETED THE POLYGRAPH PORTION OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS, BUT HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANYTHING STATING I PASSED OR FAILED. SINCE MY COMPLETION OF THE POLYGRAPH, SEVERAL OF MY REFERENCES HAVE BEEN INTERVIEWED IN PERSON, I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THAT MEANS I DID WELL AND THEY ARE MOVING ON WITH THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
ANY WORDS OF WISDOM ARE APPRECIATED.

I suspect there are few active duty agents reading this board and the retired agents and UD officers probably can't answer your questions.
But, it your background is underway that is a good sign. If you failed your polygraph they wouldn't waste money continuing with the reference interviews.

Unless things have changed....
U passed the polly if the background has started. You normally can tell by the tone of the polly if you passed or failed. Costs a lot to do the background they one start one unless they are preety sure that they want you.
Just my opinion after 31+ years.

App.
Not sure to apply or not. I have limited college (1.5 years), 8 years in the military, and about a year on as a LEO in FL. I am trilingual with combat exp. Any suggestions?

Depending upon your facility with foreign languages you might want to see what is available with the CIA, FBI and State Department, as well as civilian interpreter positions with the Department of State.
Best wishes.

Thanks for the reply. USSS website says a combination of exp might make a person looking to apply eligible. Thoughts?

Other areas to consider are ICE and DEA although I'm not sure what they require for agent positions. Of course there are uniform positions in Border Patrol and U.S. Customs, but the pay is somewhat less.
What are your foreign languages and how near are you to being qualified as a translator?
Oh, by the way, did you consider the (choke) FBI? They have a lot of non-agent investigative support positions, as does ICE and DEA.
I still think you should talk to someone at the Secret Service about the wide range of non-agent support positions that they have.
Best wishes.

Thank You.
Thank you for taking the time to respond back. The USSS is having a job fair in my city in a few weeks, I will talk to an Agent then. Thanks again for your help, and all you do...

What the Retired Agent is trying to tell you is, you are not smart enough to be a "Special Agent" because you don't have a four year degree. So in thier eyes that puts you in the dump ass club. So where was the first place he told you to apply, the Uniformed Division, where all the dumb asses are. I know because I was one of those dump asses that was looked down on for 25 years. The UD is a good group of people but remember you will have to answer to the SS. Just because the UD has a Chief doesn't mean a damn thing. Good luck in your search.
