    It Passed!!!!!

Thank God enough people had the sence to see the future in Murphy.
I am sooooooo glad they passed the by the drink(my case Beer) :P vote.
I really don't think it will couse anymore of a proplem for our police Dept. After all I don't know anyone who will want to pay those kind of prices and drink all night. Some of you will say yeah but those would do it home also.Don't tell me either that SOME don't go out and drive. ops:

    Progress?

And you call this progress. Led down the path by the promise of so much more money makes me think that someone believes that all the folks in Murphy are a bunch of drunks since that is the only way we can garner up funding. Oh well who knows. One can always move is this place doesn't suit them.

By the way did you complete high school so many mispelled words or was that on purpose?

    It Passed

Well hatin it,It does me good to see at least you can read. Course I would say ,"I am glad to see you can read."
Drunkin?????,Hummmm Any of that tere Moonshine in those old Muntains?????Do you think, just mabe, might be some of them people aren't all drunks???That's the trouble with that kind of thinking. Everyone who has a drink is a drunk.Does that mean everyone who smokes(Or chews) is a drugie.(did i spell it right)But you would properly say that's not addictive or cause deaths.

So I guess you are going to Move ??"One can always move(is) ops: I would of said "IF"(but you spell just fine)this place doesn't suit them."
Don't let the door hit you on part you speak from!!!!

    Where is the progress

So I ask you where is the progress that we have alcohol by the drink. Are you saying that the only way this county can progress is by drinking alcohol at local restaurants and hotels. Is this the only industry Cherokee County and the Town of Murphy are capable of? Is this the only hope for our youth to depend on alcohol sales. Dismal outlook at best.

No one can rightly debate the issue that tobacco is a harmful substance when introduced into the body. Could that be the reason the restaurants and other businesses are going "smoke/tobacco free?" Also, since we tax tobacco where is the income from it?

So where is the progress. No not everyone who has a drink is a drunk, and moonshine is still in "dem dar hills." I would hope that you are not trying to invoke the appeal to what you believe are backward country bumpkins as is often portrayed about this area.

Time will tell on the alcohol issue. Neither you or I can change the outcome of the vote. I just do not see where the progress is. Where is the big bunch of dollars on this one. Are we to depend on the restaurant trade to keep our youth here?

Sorry if I offended about the spelling maybe you have a lousy keyboard.

    OK

First you answered your owner question. I couldn't of put it better myself.
Second I will respone in a nice way.(I hope)
I don't say drinking (to much) is ok.But there are a lot of things in this world that aren't.
How will it help?? Well, (speaking for myself) I believe it will help the economy SOME.It will for sure crate more jobs.Anyone who thinks that Industry will come back here has to believe in the Tooth Fairy.
Nobody say's you have to order a drink.(Liquor) I don't smoke but still go into places that allow it.(Yes,Some Places Allow It)
The bottom line is and I know for sure, some will find it hard,it WILL be good for Murphy. Also That's why I servied in the Military ,(Marines) for the right of Freedom and to CHOOSE what I want.
Isn't it a good thing that back in the OLD days people excepted (In Time) Automobiles. We still would be Traveling Horse and Buggie.

    So you agree

You agree that passing the ordinance was selfserving and will not bring about progress. It will only give the ones that wanna go out and get a drink the capability to do so.

You also agree that it does not bring about progress for the youth that are leaving our area.

So now where is the progress that everybody sold us on? Where are the dollars coming from the fund the municipalities and county? From the sales of liquor? Evidentily not since you agree about the income, or lack thereof, from the sales of alcohol.

What did this have to do with law enforcement anyway

I still wonder what this had to do with law enforcment anyway. I thought the reason this board was up and running was for a mutual exchange of ideas. Whether the alcohol vote passed or not only impacts on much more the locals have to deal with the problems associated with the consumption of alcohol.

It has nothing to do with law enforcement. Only that some may soon attempt to say we need more officers to enforce drunk driving, or some other ridiculous idea to get more funding for the sheriff's office. It has been said they are paid too much here as deputies. I will say this, they are paid fair enough, but they need to work for it. The problem here is not the money they are being paid, but rather the lack of work product. Many deputies make a couple of arrests per month if that. They are not out seeking criminal activity, or stopping vehicles.

Roger Williams, nice collar on the sexual predator, of the three years old. Good JOB!

    Try again

Glad to see some good work with the Sheriff's Office, but try again. Congrats to Mr. Williams on his capture. Of course he is just a small part of a good department.
