    Public Safety DIve training Course

    The South West Florida Public Safety Academy isponsoring an underwater crime scene and public safety diver course January 28, 2008 through February 1, 2008. Students must have an open water certification and be a member of a law enforcement agency. (not required to be ona dive team)

    Great course for a refresher or anyone looking to become a police dver. Interested members should contact Sgt. James Kirdy at 941-628-4524. This course is free and paid by the state for regional members and does offer mandatory training hours through FDLE. Certifying agency is Public Savety Divers Association and the National Association of Underwater Instructors. Contact Dave Harney at the academay for registration, at 239- 334-3897

    Processing crime scene underwater and recovery, including vehicle, body, weapon. Other searches include proper bridge, piling and vessel searches. Topics include proper communiactions, diving in black water, briefing and de-briefing, report writing and reconstruction of the scene.

    Certifications include PSDA level 1 and NAUI underwater crime scene, police diver.
