Why? Whoever said you had to be a NET commander to get ahead in this place.

He will end up in Major position soon. Probably over Budget.

All kidding aside.........let's agree for a minute that there are some pretty good commanders out there. Not all perhaps, but a few. Let's agree also that these commanders do a good job in another thankless rank. Just agree for arguement's sake.

They are preparing 2X a month for Compstat, are held accountable to find strategies to combat crimes, and must deal with a never ending array of personnel issues....Again, focusing on those commanders that are well liked and respected. Let's stay positive here.

Wht do you think will be the overall response from these commanders, when a lieutenant by-passes all of them to the rank of Major rather than choose a major from within that rank ( or even a Captain, for that matter)?

That very well may be the problem. Nepotism and no real continuity. Yavneh? great guy...Well versed, knows his stuff. But I can also list 5-6 commanders and a captain or two who also fit that category...Or are we making the rules up again as we go along?
    :snicker:

you may very well be right. An "Anglo" never got replaced when Cannon got promoted. In fact, the current Major's make up is:

    LM BM F WM

    8 2 2 1

Hmmmmmmm........Yavneh? May be ....But the other guys are good too.......
