Survival
This list of rules for survival has been passed around for years. It has made its way back to me via e-mail. Since it has been awhile since I have seen it here, I thought I would share it with anyone who hasn't seen it. Of course, I have lost track of who the author is, so if anyone knows who deserves the credit, speak up.
RULES FOR SURVIVAL
1. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
2. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.
3. Have a plan.
4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won't work.
5. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a 4.
7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life
is expensive.
8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.)
9. Always seek cover... or at the very least, concealment.
10. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.
11. Always cheat always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
12. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance,
or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
13. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating or reloading.
14. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should
have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
15. Don't drop your guard.
16. Better to have mastered a skill that you don't need than to need a skill that you've not mastered.

I remember city cops back in the 80's armed with a gun and a radio only with the top shirt unbutton kicking a door or going thru a window to catch the offenders , when the offenders saw city cops they knew what it will happened next , they had respect and fear . The department was tough and other agencies will send people to model after us , just a little history nothing more , don't take it the wrong way those times will never come back if it is a good or bad thing is up to you.
