City Manager Steven Crowell sent city commissioners an e-mail stating: "I was just advised that there was a double homicide at a residence on Hornbuckle. We do not know all the details yet (MAY be related to drugs or a car jacking)."

What an idiot. To send out a public e-mail in an ongoing investigation, how moronic. The city commision needs to look at this guy and see if he is really what North Port needs as a leader. City Hall needs to stay out of official pd business.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. However, he's just a civilian and he probably doesn't know that it's illegal to disclose certain information in an active criminal investigation. I also understand how the chief would disclose information to the commissioners about an active criminal investigation (off the record), but the chief needs to explain to them that they need to keep their mouths shut -- or else the information will stop!

To all of "D" squad and the Detective, good job. What a great display of team work between everyone involved. The bad guys were in custody in 24 hrs.

Both Captains were there, But Lt. Sullivan was in charge of the investigation with all the detectives.
