I am a cop in south florida and after 7 years I am resigning to attend graduate school at John Jay, subsequently Law School. Is it tru that I cannot have my own guns (2) in my own house within the City? And if it is true, where can I get a permit to have them? What if I am an out of state sworn reserve officer with compliance of the new federal law pertaining to law enforcement officers. I do not want to be another stat. in your compstat.

NYC only criminals and police can have guns.

The constitutional right to bear arms is not followed there.

If you are resigning with only 7 years, I do not believe you comply, under LEOSA. You would be required to get a NYC Pistol Permit, which would be limited to premise and target/hunting. You would not be able to get a concealed carry permit, based on your prior service. I think the cutoff is 10 years. If you reside outside the 5 boro's of NYC you chances are far better, as other jurisdictions are more prone to issue carry permits.

A CCW issued in NYS, outside of NYC is good in the entire state, just not NYC. the NYC permit is good everywhere, they just don't give out full carry's without cause.

A qualified (active) LEO is an employee of a governmental agency who meets six criterion:

He/she is authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of, or the incarceration of any person for, any violation of law, and has statutory powers of arrest;
He/she is authorized by the agency to carry a firearm;
He/she is not the subject of any disciplinary action by the agency;
He/she meets the standards, if any, established by the agency which requires the employee to regularly qualify in the use of a firearm;
He/she is not under the influence of alcohol or another intoxicating or hallucinatory drug or substance; and
He/she is not prohibited by Federal law from receiving a firearm.

I'm not sure if your Reserve status will qualify you. I can tell U from experience you'd better check out the law from a more reliable source than this web-site. The NYPD will lock U up if U are in violation

Dude you can carry your firearm in all 50 states and in every city in the United States.
Just look at the new laws that came out. GW Bush made it possible for all full time and retired LEOs to carry anywhere in the USA. And you can even fly armed if you so wish all you have to do is have your department send a teletype to the TSA and you take a letter from your chief authorizing you to fly armed.

I can only guess you mean the same guy who claims to have used cocaine and marijuana throughout his college years, and the same guy who married a racist.
If I'm right, he's gotta be the same guy that used hand sanitizer after shaking hands with George Bush jr. He's also the same guy that is only half of what he claims to be, and has lost ratings enormously within the last several months.
