Officers in need of your help
We are a small agency in Juno Beach with a handful of officers. We’re in a tough situation and are currently at impasse, due to not being able to resolve our differences with our town.
The town decided it would be in their best interest to remove “just cause” from the contract and to change the discipline clause. They want to be able to terminate an officer without a reason and for the officer to not be able to arbitrate it to an arbitrator, only as high as the town manager.
The town hired a high price law firm from Miami to bully us, and administration has been putting pressure on officers with unwarranted IA investigations. It has been very difficult performing our police duties under the fear of being investigated for any reason.
We have been strong in our cause and feel we need to demonstrate and to educate the public on the town’s views and wasteful spending. We are asking for your help and to show strength in numbers by standing side by side with us. We will be on the northwest corner, (CVS Plaza Parking) of US Highway #1 and Donald Ross Rd, in Juno Beach on Saturday November 15th at 10:00 AM. We will provide signs and refreshments.
We will show administration that they cannot bully officers. If somehow our town is successful in removing “just cause”, then other towns can feel they can remove “just cause” from their contracts. Let’s stop it here and show we will not stand for this.
