I hope someone can help me. Do mandated reporters have a legal obligation to report sexual molestation incidents that occurred in the past? If an adult tells a mandated reporter about being sexual molested as a teenager, does the mandated reporter have to report the information to law enforcement or DCF?
Yes, as a mandatory reported you should report any incident of child abuse, child sexual abuse regardless when it occurred. You should report it to DCF. DCF will contact the allege victim and if it is an adult it will be up to that victim to disclosed, negate and/or verify the allegations. Reason is that the subject may still be around and still molesting other children. once a pedophile, you remain a pedophile.
