Don't pass counterfeit money from your own house!
In the late afternoon of September 28, at an apartment complex on Home Avenue in central San Diego, neighbors said they witnessed police activity that all began when a woman arrived to deliver two Papa John's pizzas and 20 barbecue wings.
Inside the apartment, the delivery woman was handed five 10-dollar bills. When she got to her car, she took a second look at the money.
"She was not only suspicious, she was certain the money was counterfeit money," said Robert Heyer, assistant special agent in charge of the San Diego office of the Secret Service.
The woman called police about the money, and the Secret Service was eventually summoned.
Investigators said they found a printer, sheets of fake money and some $1,600 in phony bills inside the apartment. Authorities arrested 36-year-old Alfred Murphy, 27-year-old Elisha Shingleton and 24-year-old Joyce Ervin.
