Longboat Key PD?

I’m a 20+ year officer in a large department in NC. Tired of the big city bs and leftist hack politicians. I’m looking for a small agency in FL to transfer my certification to through EOT. Not looking to run/jump/shoot anymore but looking for a small, affluent, non-political town where I can do a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay. I vacationed recently in Sarasota/Longboat and loved the area.

Questions:
1. How is it to work Longboat Key? Any horrible small-town politics? I imagine its mostly alarm calls and building checks as well as dealing with quality of life complaints from the grumpier residents.
2. Benefits- looks like a decent medical and all but how does the 401(a) compare to a traditional FRS pension?
3. Is there a shoo-in to be the new chief? What’s current supervision like?

Any other input or advice would be appreciated.
