The lousy pay DOC offers means that only the most desperate college graduates will apply for the jobs. These people have criminal justice degrees which are easy to get so they are not the brightest by any means and many lack common sense. That's why the DOC will regularly be in the news but nobody mentions the cause of these scandals, arrests and terminations. When you go cheap you get mediocre hires.
It's not quite the low intelligence work such as: military service, prison guard, or being a cop; but you certainly could do Probation without a 4 year degree!

OK, I don't have an issue with Probation Officers, in fact I have always had a good working relationship with them. But when you come on here slamming military service members, I have an issue with YOU.
