I think the FIU PD should consider switching from its current 5-8 shift system to a 4-10 shift system (10-hour shifts at 4 days a week as opposed to 8-hour shifts 5 days a week) for officers, dispatchers, PSTs, and staff. FIU is already trying out a 4-day work week for the summer with all its other employees, and it seems to be a success. This would cause schedules to over-lap, which is good especially for those times when calls come in between shift changes. Also having 3 days off instead of 2 would be a big improvement. But alas, the Chief in the last mandatory meeting wasn't too keen on that idea.
Opinions???
