If you're coming to TPD for improved pay and benefits, you will still find that (for the most part that is, and our pension still can't be beat.) But if you're escaping negative working conditions and low morale, you'll find that's now the case at TPD too. Patrol has been WAY understaffed to allow this insane deployment, and everytime you turn around there's another micromanager giving you a new procedure. There's little to no time for proactive patrol anymore. ROC is a failure, with no clear mission. Detectives get harassed about every case, and have to send out endless bulletins with useless video for everything, including the infamous sandwich theft. And staff wonders why tickets and arrests are down.
If the pay slips or stagnates any further, we're in trouble. We are poorly organized and led. The only thing that keeps this department afloat is the generally high quality of the rank and file, attracted by superior pay/benefits. If you doubt me, take a look at the people getting hired now in this hiring push (for that matter, take a look at the people "training" them.) It may have already begun.
