Your entire post disappeared because you failed to follow the rules (ToU). What is really interesting is how people can continue to post information or verbiage against the ToU when the rules clearly explain what is or is not permitted on this site... but then again, the ones who do not follow the rules are also the same ones complaining about the lack of entitlement.

Full flavor basics were only .15 cents. I preferred smoking "Kool and Newports"

I remember when I use to walk 2 miles to school and back up hill both ways every day.
In the winter I had to shovel the driveway that was a half mile long before walking thru 2 feet of snow that same 2 miles up hill both ways.
I remember when a six pack was 2 bucks and camels were 25 cents a pack. I remember when parents had children cops were not needed when they acted up or did not want to go to school. I remember when people rescpected each other. I rmember when you broke down people stopped to help rather than rob you. I remeber when grass was really green before it was dried for hooch. I remember when the yankees were under paid and cops were on the take. Oh the memories, time for another toke.

I remember 2 to 3 per district when crime was higher, there were more calls for service and the only specialty units were VNB and CID. Pay was an eigth of what it is now and no one complianed. Amazing.....

They believe it's alright to spend a half hour on a medical call with vaginal bleeding and they believe it's ok to back up every traffic stop they hear in the district all to avoid the "paper". (hey, I'll do your tow sheet) They spend more time avoiding work then performing work. Then they complain that there are not enough deputies in the district, that they have two or three reports for the shift and that are too many specialty units. I say go back to the jail where they are truly short (same pay) or leave the agency altogether and then spend the rest of your career trying to get re-hired. I agree with an above poster. I remember when two (2) deputies patrolled all of Golden Gate including d4. Quit yer bitchin.

We used to have 3 ppl on afternoons in D3 & we did the best we could. Csd's didn't take S4's or S10's & we only had them until 1800 hours. At the end of the night, we'd all be holding anywhere from 6-8 Alphas, but it was great! The non-priority calls would just hold until we got to them. That's just the way it was --- maybe some are a bit too spoiled now or something? If one of our guys needed back-up, then if you had to leave in the middle of your current call, that's what we did.

How can it be that Patrol is so short handed? Most districts have 8-9 deputies per shift + csd's with the exception of D3 who seems to have 3-4 per shift. Don't blame the specialty units for Patrol being short as when can you remember the last time someone has been transferred from Patrol to CID?
