Orange Sheriff Jerry Demings files re-election bid

Post by NewsHound » 10/17/11 20:55:29

From OrlandoSentinel.com

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings has filed to run for re-election in 2012, records show.

County Supervisor of Elections records show Demings filed his bid on Thursday to run as a Democrat in the upcoming elections. So far, two other candidates have registered to oppose the incumbent sheriff.

Demings will face Billy Frank Norris and Rei Vazquez, neither of whom has listed a party affiliation.

Demings was elected to the post in 2008, replacing Kevin Beary, who had retired after 16 years. He previously served as Orlando's police chief and Orange County's public-safety director.
