Re: Hiring Outlook

Passed the oral board a couple weeks ago. At this point have completed the PAA, Interview, Polygraph, Oral Board, and that IQ test.

I've been told that getting to this point means I'm likely going to be hired. I've received a lot of info from Recruitment and Screening, but thought I'd ask you guys on here as well. Is this a good sign and do you have any tips for this point forward?

Thanks!

Good Luck.

Anyone fresh out of an academy and STUPID enough to denigrate law enforcement officers who serve in small communities needs all the luck they can get.

Do you REALLY want to be on the front lines doing your part? Go to Detroit, Philadelphia or East St. Louis and be a Supercop. We can manage without you in Florida.

FlDeputy352: Obviously you work in a three man agency due to the fact you must post on HCSO site. Go back to your pathetic little agency running traffic on the only stop sign in your little town. It must really eat you inside every day to know you were not good enough to wear the HCSO Patch...weak

After doing my two academies and having over 12 years on the road I wouldnt want to deal with some BS SOT program and I am sure there are a lot of other current officers/deputies that agree. I considered applying here again but like I said there are problems everywhere and I really dont have a reason to leave my agency. After reading a majority of the posts here it seems like HCSO has gotten hella worse than when I did few ride alongs 9 years ago when I was exploring the possibility of comming to work here (thats when Cal Henderson was sheriff).

BTW Does CSO Gildersleeve still work down there in District 3????

Be safe

You have no idea just HOW BAD it has gotten. For every positive item the sheriff or chief plan to give the troops, they create a new obstacle to obtain it. Look at the detective & master positions for example. They couldn't just let seniority & good evaluations be enough to qualify for these positions. OOH NO, they had to create a literal obstacle course in addition to the standard yearly test. You want to get hired at HCSO, you must go through a boot camp and complete the entire police academy over again.....THE ENTIRE ACADEMY!

One might just want to look at the #1 Swat Team, #1 K-9 Team and the #1 Motor Officer in the State of Florida before they knock an agency... and yes, Mr. All-Mighty HCSO deputy [/quote]

Wow, if that's considered a, "knock an agency", you boys in Lakeland have some think skin my boy. I think you need to remember who's board you're on little recruiting guy. The last time I looked you guys had you're own board on LEOAFFAIRS where you can boast of your, "#1 Swat Team, #1 K-9 Team and the #1 Motor Officer in the State of Florida ". As always stay safe lil' fella'.

The Florida League of Cities will rape the city pensions too. They also pay A LOT more into their pensions than FRS employees, ask the guys in Tampa.

Everyone needs to remember that most of the city agencies have collective bargaining agreements. As the CBA's expire many cities will be attempting to reduce benefits.

Just this past week Hollywood, Fl laid off 13 more officers and then reduced the pay by 10% for the others.

Obviously you have enough time vested at HCSO that it does not apply to you. Appearantly you do not do well at math either.

Obviously you didn't understand the new FRS system rules, as long as I was hired before July 1, 2011 I don't have to work 30 years or 65 years old. Seems I might not be the only one who didn't do well at math am I? it's also classy to come troll for new hires on another agencies board, brings a whole lot of class to the Lakeland Police Department doesn't it? I bet HCSO employees are banging down the door to get hired on at the Lakeland Police Department when they have Tampa, St. Pete, Orlando, Miami, and other larger Florida agencies to choose from. Keep recruiting at Community College, I'm sure it's somebody's dream, like yours, to work at your agency, just not HCSO employees.

I really don't understand your contempt, if it is not for you then what do you care. If you have been in this career for a decent amount of time then you would know LPD's rep. If you want to educate yourself talk to some of your SWAT operators or K-9 handlers. And don't forget that our wonderful govenor has at least three more budget sessions to rape FRS even more. The next time you may not be grandfathered in. And finally I guess if looking out for other officers who are getting bent over a barrell by the state makes me a troll then so be it.
