NOW PRIMARILY A PLACE TO PUT VIOLATING PROBATIONERS WE DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY MORE. IDEA WAS TO PROVIDE 24/7 SURVEILLANCE AND ENFORCEMENT OF SCHEDULE. DUMB IDEA EVEN IN 1983 NO WAY ONE OFFICER WORKING 40 HRS A WEEK CAN DO SQUAT WITH 25 OFFENDERS. AND GUESS WHAT GPS DOES IT ALL BETTER AND CHEAPER.RECOMMENDED ALL CC CASES GO ON GPS. CASELOADS GET CAPPED AT 50 TO ONE. OFFICERS MAKE 2 FP'S /HP'S PER MONTH.WHERE IS MR. CRIMINAL ON CHRISTMAS? ROP HIM AND SEE. SAVINGS 50 PERCENT OF CURRENT CC OFFICERS CAN DO SOMETHING ELSE.2. SPECIALIZATION HAS GOT TO GO. CURRENTLY WE HAVE CC, SEX, DOP, MAINSTREAM AND DRUG COURT AND MENTAL HEALTH COURT ALL WORKING THE SAME AREA. BIG COUNTIES MEAN 6 DIFFERENT FLAVOR OF OFFICERS GO TO THE SAME AREA. WASTE OF TIME AND TRAVEL MONEY. ONCE YOU ARE ON THE JOB FOR 2 YEARS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SUPERVISE ANYONE. USE THE GOOD OLD POINT SYSTEM ADD UP THE NUMBER OF POINTS FOR THE OFFICE DIVIDE BY 30 ( THE NEW 25) AND THAT IS HOW MANY OFFICERS YOU NEED. SAVINGS WILL DEPEND ON HOW MUCH SANDBAGGING THE CA'S/RD'S HAVE BEEN DOING BUT I SMELL THOUSANDS.

Enter a code. Now, not just any code will do. It must be a magic special code that gets entered just right or it won't work. Then, when you turn in your PP89 job to your supervisor at the end of the month, he/she can report to Circuit that you are an awful probation officer because you failed to reduce an "x" from the job. A screen went untouched. A casenote was mistakenly entered incorrectly. Now, in the meantime, I have a full caseload of 50 DOP cases...and NO FREAKING DRUG TESTS!!! Every offender so far is walking out without being tested for coc or thc. And we're now out of meth and xtc, so now what? Can't "not" test them, or the dreaded "x" won't go away, and I'll be in trouble. I have four subpoenas so far this month. One is out of my circuit. I have 48 MAX cases to see in the field; 34 of them have curfews. Oops, better make sure I enter that default code correctly or that "x" won't get taken off, and AGAIN, I'll be a bad little PO. Now, we've been ordered to complete the PP89 Etrain AND the Interstate compact training by the end of the month. Ok, now when do you propose that I do this? In my free time? Will my caseload requirements be reduced so I can accomplish this? Have to admit it, but this job has sprung a leak, and is sinking fast. No raise; no reduced field contacts, endless data entry (our intake doesn't enter ONE single thing on the OT17 or OT23 screens...never mind they stopped doing NCIC/FCIC checks for the IT60). OH, let's not forget the cases in suspense. Now, I can go through 3 1/2 pages of absconders/S04-52 (abconders who won't be extradited) and any other nitwit not actively on my caseload and do their NCIC/FCIC check to remove that "x" from that print job. Any idea how time consuming Cyberlynxx is? And then, praytell, I find an out of state arrest, I NOW have to chase down an offense report and update a five year old VOP on someone we clearly won't extradite back...and for what? Tell me when I'm going to get that done? Or, I can just be like my co-workers and lie and say there were no new arrests. Hmmm, starts to sound pretty good to me. Oh well, thanks for the vent. No, don't wanna be a LEO (did that for 6 years) but would like for SOMEONE in Tally to understand what a complete and utter nightmare this job has become...and NOTG

Guest wrote:When is Circuit 17 going to actually address the mess they created with changing boundaries of sex Offenders on case loads? We continue to be told that they are looking at the boundaries...Really? Could have fooled me and every other specialist in 17! Except one office. All of their sex offenders were transferred to other offices (per circuit instruction). At one point 5 specialists had a total of 7 sex offenders to supervise for the whole office while 2 other offices with 5 specialist had a total of 90 or higher for the whole office. What happened to public safety??? You can't reintegrate offenders into society if all you are doing is putting out fires. If Tallahassee really reads this I think you need to check out the case loads of specialists in each office and see how many sex offenders each specialist has and then ask circuit why. Emailing your supervisor is not working. All we hear is they are looking into it... Well 5 months of looking into it is nonsense! Does a sex offender need to reoffend and create another victim and have an officer slandered on the front page before they do something?! Lets be more proactive! Why do they have to wait until something bad happens?!
