Look beyond the B.S. Special team Operators do not walk around with a look at me attitude, borrow boats and equipment and leave it trashed and broken only to return it and you take care of it. I'M SOG YOU DEAL WITH MY F--K UP. Look beyond the B.S. and you'll will here the whining, bitching that goes on at the so called details and training. While some maintain cooper standards well let's just say not all can or do pass but that can be penciled whipped. Still impressed just ask someone that knows about the great camping trip to Eglin AFB. Peace out

I am wondering if SOG will get any incentive pay as part of the new pay deal. I sure do think these boys up here in the Pensacola area deserve it man! If the pay is good enough I might give a try to going out for that outfit. I can't run very fast but I am a biggun.

Well that's too bad. If he was at odds with the LT or whatever the leader is of the SOG guys then it's probably best that he come back to the "regular officers". I haven't got anything against the SOG people. The ones in NW region always get the crappy details when billy bowleggs or some other party event comes up. More power to them!

I have been told that there is an officer that is or maybe has resigned from the SOG unit in SRA. We trained together and worked side by side at different events and if this is true and SHAME! I watched at how POORLY managed that team really is by its leadership especially the LT. The only reason that they performed as well as they did in the "roundup" is because of this officer and a few others literally carrying her through the events, because she couldn't even complete them! I can only assume if what I am hearing is about to happen, then she struck again! This officer that I refer to is a great guy very well rounded!

That old fella that used work with FWC was a great guy. I don't think he ever got into the teams thing or being called somethin special and what not. The guys up here in the Northwest Region are great. They all get along and look like they are in shape. Most of them are training us on stuff when we go to training. The only thing that I didn't like is when they come to bowleggs in Destin and get to ride the jet-ski. They shouldn't be on the jet-ski. Our capt'n told us that only SOG can go in the mosh pit. That sort of upset me because the mosh pit is where all the action is-and the most tickets.

This is a very interesting post. SOG fulfills a function for the agency in selling the brand to the politicians in Tally. I am not sure what kinds of things they do. I know they train a lot but in terms of call volume I can't say that I have seen them get called out a whole lot. One of my friends who is no longer with the FWC used to be on SOG, and he did it mainly for the overtime and the camraderie. He told me that they were basically a swat team of sorts. I have enjoyed reading some of the colorful posts on here. I don't have an opinion on the "teams", "operator", or what have you. If some kid wants to call himself an operator then that is fine with me. If it makes him feel good about himself then who really cares.

We care- the rest of us who must pick-up the slack when our SOG (Special Overtime Group)
members are out of service playing- I mean training and standing around without purpose or function.

I have read these posts on this forum, and I am disgusted about how much disrespect there is for the guys on SOG. I am a member on the NW team. Ya I said team. So what if guys are calling themselves operators and members of the "teams". SOG has been great for me. I work with guys that really care about the agency, we are all high activity, and we stay physically fit. Our training helps me keep my edge when I am out there on solo patrol. I just feel like there is a lot of jealousy on here. If you want to be on the teams try out and see if you have what it takes.I never really felt like I was good enough but I eventually tried out and proved to myself and family that I could make it. SOG does carry itself as an elite organization within the FWC. The first time I saw SOG I was at the academy, and I decided that day that I was going to pursue a slot on the team. Some of us say that we are in the teams because it is really like a brotherhood to us.I personally don't see anything wrong with it.
