DESCRIPTION:
Law Enforcement Investigator II

**Sworn position**



**This is an open advertisement for the Tampa Office to fill vacancies as they occur.**



Plans, conducts and completes all or portions of criminal, administrative, and civil investigations which the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco has investigative jurisdiction. Prepares accurate investigation, prosecution and administrative reports as well as conducts interviews, testifies in official legal proceedings and participates in cooperative investigations with other agencies. Enforces final orders, settlement agreements and court orders. Makes arrests, serves warrants and completes inspections of businesses licensed to sell or serve alcoholic beverages and tobacco to ensure compliance of Florida Statutes.



The selected applicant must reside within 35 air miles of the Tampa Office.

DESCRIPTION:
Anticipated starting salary range: $39,559 - $46,000. The Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is a Florida certified law enforcement agency. Preference will be given to those applicants who possess Florida law enforcement certification and/or a minimum of 5 years current law enforcement investigative experience. Preference will also be given to eligible candidates who are fluent in Spanish and have good bilingual verbal & written skills.

MINIMUM AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: Three (3) years of sworn law enforcement experience. Two (2) years of public contact experience or two (2) years of active and continuous military service can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for one (1) year of the required experience.

In addition to the above requirements, Florida Statute 943 requires that any person employed in this class must:

(1) Be at least 19 years of age.

(2) Be a citizen of the United States, notwithstanding any laws of the State to the contrary.

(3) Be a high school graduate or its "equivalent" as the term may be determined by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission of the Department of Law Enforcement.

(4) Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable or undesirable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.

(5) Have his/her processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency.

(6) Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician, based on specifications established by the Commission.

(7) Have a good moral character as determined by a background investigation under procedures established by the Commission.

(8) Possess a current certificate of compliance for basic employment certification issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

SPECIAL NOTE: If the employee does not hold a current certificate of compliance issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission at the time of appointment to a position in this class, the individual must be appointed with a base salary of 10% below the minimum pay and must, within 180 consecutive days following such appointment, obtain the certificate of compliance. Such appointments shall not count toward completion of the probationary period.
