Since the 70s, SPPD has gone from being in the top ten Police Departments in the nation to the bottom few. We all know why this has occurred. The older Chiefs/Sheriff from a different era have moved on or passed away. The public has been flooded with a new younger aged of political Chief/Sheriff figures who want to appease the masses and screw the general law abiding public and those who try to maintain public order.
Have you ever noticed it is the "older" aged Chiefs/Sheriffs that seem to stand by their Officers/Deputies? That is because they are like the Fatherly, or Grandfatherly figures, where right is right and wrong is wrong. A philosophy that is almost non-existent today in dealing with criminals. Today, most administrative chain of command personnel have no street experience. They have been promoted beyond their abilities to be natural leaders. Most have no leadership values at all!
