The PBA met with the City on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006. The following proposals were handed to the City:

7.5% for fiscal year 2007
6.5% for fiscal year 2008
6.0% for fiscal year 2009
The pay increases were coupled with TPD's outstanding record of crime reduction for the past three years, and compared with the cities of Jacksonville and Orlando, both of whom are battling serious crime increases in their respective jurisdictions.
Additionally the PBA proposed a one time bonus for each officer, payable upon ratification of the contract. The amount proposed for each officer is $750.00. This was an approximation of 1.25% of a current step 10 Police Officer.

This means on 9/1/09 a 10 year street cop in Tampa will be making $ 78,873.00

and thats just a street cop that hasn't been promoted, Holy Cow Bat Man !

Don’t forget they pay 3% to their retirement, now do the math. However, I do with we would go back to paying people who work in the investigative bureau 5% more. This worked well, some call it a clothing allowance this would also be an incentive for having to work 80 days more a year then Patrol. Just a thought.

HEY DIPPY YOU WANT TO GET PAID MORE IN THE INVESTIGATIVE BUREAU THEN DO MORE. START SOLVING SOME OF THESE HOMOCIDES THAT PATROL HASN'T ALREADY GOT THE SUSPECT FOR YOU. YOU MAY WORK 80 MORE DAYS THAN WE DO BUT HOW MANY HOURS DO WE WORK MORE THAN YOU DO. HAVE YOU BEEN OUT OF PATROL SO LONG YOU FORGOT WE WORK 12 AT A TIME NOT 8. YOU WANT TO PLAY THAT GAME FINE LETS START A PAY ON COMMISSION SYSTEM AND LETS SEE HOW WELL YOU DO AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

You have to be kidding.......3% of 78800 is only about 2400 that leaves $76,400 after paying into the pension. Get a new calculator... $76,400 sounds pretty good to me for cops pay.
Oh yes and all you butt kissers can save the leave if your not happy crap. We need improvement here not more BS. You can not afford to own a home here any more on our salary.
