If someone calls out sick an employee have to either come in early or stay late or even both with no notice.

A schedule of those poor souls who have been selected for this onerous duty were not chosen by senoirity or any other reasonable criteria except at the whim of the shift supervisor. BTW the shift supervisor is exempt from this duty.

The employee scheduled for this duty will carry a pager one day/night a week. They will not consume alcohol they must make themselves available to work by not leaving the local commuting area.

This sounds to me like the employee is "on call", do you agree?

Well according to the Powers that Be this is not "On Call"! and there are no restrictions placed on your travel but you will make yourself available.

Dont bother complaining about it, you will be simply told to "deal with it" or "shut up or be fired".

THIS IS A CROCK OF FECAL MATTER!
