On July 30, 2006 for a cost of about $20,000, the city of Saint Petersburg put a quarter page size ad in the Chicago Daily News to hire new officers... No Experience Required!
On August 17th, 2006 in the Tampa Tribune it has received official notice from the census bureau that at 47%, white public school children are now the minority.
The above are facts or our Changing Culture is part of that fact. Sometimes attitudes are a bit slower to change. As Bob Dylan once sang, "The Times, They Are A Changing"
In the Tribune article, it clearly states that a majority of these people are from other countries, including Mexico and Cuba. On parent/teacher days, children ages 5 through 18 become the interpreters for their parents.
Are you changing? Is your department giving you time, pay and credit to attend classes for you to learn other languages? Or will they just "replace" you when a candidate for your job who "Speeky Beter Inglish" comes along, regardless of his/her reading/writing skills. Maybe it will become a requirement that only dual language persons can go into Police/Fire/Medical work.
Since this is America we should also allow time/pay/credit for every American in the public sector to attend at least twice a year sensitivity classes, we don't want you to shoot someone because they are committing a felony and you did not take into consideration that at one time they had watched a cartoon of Tom and Jerry and were traumatized by the violence. But if you come across an American Veteran from the War on Terrorism who has seen things no human should have to... Well he is just an American, you can shoot on site, unless of course he is a minority American where it is presumed that your great grandfather kept his great grandfather as a slave... Even though your grandparents come from Poland or Ireland the accusation still stands, you are a racist!
