Disguised Handcuff Key Discovered
PALM BEACH, Florida [NMT] -- A member of the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office has sent out a bulletin warning all law enforcement personnel to be alert for a handcuff key that is disguised.
The Seminole County Department of Environmental Protection recently attended a training seminar where the above depicted handcuff key was being distributed.
The key is plastic and approximately the same size of a U.S. nickel.
The key would not be detected by a metal detector or other standard security detection devices. The key could be worn on a chain and be easily overlooked as a pendant.
"Law enforcement members are encouraged to continually practice sound handcuffing and searches of all subjects taken into custody," the e-mail said.
