Sex Offenders Reassigned Away From Orlando Parole Office

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A parole office in Orlando, Fla., where about 90 sex offenders went to register will be moved from its current location just feet away from a new elementary school after a Local 6 News investigation.

"This concerns me because anyone can just walk up to the school and grab a child and take off," parent Luci Harlow said.

Monday, Local 6 News reported that the new location of Orange County's McCoy Elementary School, located off state Road 436 near Hoffner, was near a sex offender probation office.

"There is no law that mandates where probation and parole offices can operate," Local 6 News reporter Nancy Alvarez said. "That means sex offenders who visit their parole officers at this office end up spending time just across the street from McCoy Elementary School."

The office had been at the location for about 13 years but the school is new.

The former McCoy Elementary School that was demolished in June was located north of the office. The new building is further south and near the probation office.

Local 6 News took parents' concerns to the Department of Corrections in Tallahassee, Fla., Tuesday. Officials said all sex offenders will be reassigned and told to report at some other location, away from the school, so as not to be dangerously near the children for extended periods.

Some parents said they were happy with the latest decision but won't be completely satisfied until the office is completely relocated and moved along with the sex offenders who reported there.

What a bunch of idiots. The frigging place has been there for 13 years. If they were so concerned, why didn't they build the school somewhere else?

How many of those 90 sex offenders molested the nearby school children over the last 13 years? And did they do it BEFORE or AFTER they filed their monthly report? Enquiring minds need to know.
