Suspect in 10 bank robberies re-arrested
A 53-year-old career criminal was arrested by Manatee deputies for a string of bank robberies and was booked into the Sarasota Jail.
David Andrew Rodriguez is facing contempt charges stemming from his role in a June 1995 robbery. In all, Rodriguez is suspected in as many as 10 bank robberies on the west coast of Florida since his release from prison in December 2005. He is also suspected in bank robberies in Collier and Pinellas counties.
Three banks in Sarasota and Manatee counties were robbed. Through surveillance footage obtained from the crime scenes, Rodriguez was identified as a suspect.
