Mooney is out for sure The bigger question is who is her replacement. It’s definitely someone from outside the agency.

Mooney is the walking dead. She's all done she just doesn't know it yet. I'm sure the PBP will be doing a story on how she got caught by lying to the CM about the January RM's accident in the park. The AVL data showed he was in the park for over 3 hours most likely sleeping.

Tonight's meeting was a total joke. Why are King and Herb so protective of Mooney as she only ever gives a shi. about those in her personal little click. Then they try calling us after the meeting to stir the pot more because they didn't get their way and storm out all upset. I don't know anyone stupid enough to screw with the potential new chief. What are these goof balls so afraid that will get uncovered? Maybe we do really need a change in leadership and maybe let's start with union leadership.

Are you kidding us? You really think we're ratting out each other...no chance. As far as I'm concerned good ridance to Mooney and let's bring in a real professional chief that can advance our agency. I'm tried of the low clearance rate on homicides and incorrect classification on the UCR to keep the appearance of a low crime rate or the appearance that burglaries have been reduced when we all know that's total BS. This agency is so behind we will never advance into 21st century policing unless we have new outside leadership. Change is coming I hope and it can only be positive. I could only hope the press would read these posts and start asking questions.

Frank Adderley who? BS. He’s a washed up former FLPD chief and even worse fired as a colonel at BSO. He’s running for BSO Sheriff so no chance he’s replacing Mooney. Keep spreading rumors.

Negative. It is going to be Frank Adderley former Fort Lauderdale chief. I know several FLPD current and past and they all concure Adderely is/was a very good chief. Very little problems during his term which they said they think was the longest of any chief in that agency. They claim he brought professional and accountabilty back to their agency. I hope he can do the same here. I head it's coming down today or tomorrow.

Mooney helped cover this up when it was first submitted to SAO. She's done and so isn't Bab****. Once they confirm the DAVID inquires he made to get the DL information for the boat warnings he has serious criminal exposure. Shame on them both for their disgracing this agency. She's attempting to act so inocent but we all know the truth that the walls are closing in.

It would appear that at least some of the information on leoaffaris is accurate. Chief Mooney has confirmed she was advised by mayor and cm that she’s out as chief as of June 3. She’s being demented to a-chief assigned as at city hall for one last year to collect full pension. New chief arrives on this Friday with a proposed new deputy chief position. New chief is formerly the chief of ft lauderdale and the new deputy chief is recently separated from fdle. I guess the winds are blowing change.

looks like another PBA leadership hater. I'm on various sports teams with several from FLPD and without exception they all said Adderely was their best chief in the history of their agency. BSO guys know little to nothing about him as he wasn't there that long. One BSO captain that was in his command stated Adderely was his best boss and wished everyone at BSO would be just like him. If these folks are accuarte it looks like we're in for some major positive change.

WOW !!, who knew what a superstar that the tax payers of West Palm Beach had for the past few years. I AM SURE THAT ALL OF THE FAMILIES OF ALL OF THE PEOPLE SHOT DEAD UNDER HER WATCH WOULD STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH ms. muoio.

Perhaps we all should allow the newly elected officials of West Palm Beach to make their own decisions based on facts and statistics and not personal associations. After all, wasn't it ms. muoio who appointed former chief mooney to her former position without a nationwide search !

Lets focus on doing our jobs and addressing crime in our city instead of crying about the old chief who is fortunate enough to continue working and collecting her pension....?

Lets move on and start addressing why we can't close out homicide cases and why the residents won't talk to us.

Lets start to build back the trust that we have lost with certain neighborhoods and communities.

Lets support the new Chief and make this a safe and prosperous city again !

High-ranking police officers guarded over Rothstein
BRITTANY WALLMAN
NOVEMBER 14, 2009 02:18 PM, UPDATED JULY 30, 2013 05:26 PM
Twenty-eight city police officials, including captains, majors, undercover officers and the department spokesman, helped guard the home and businesses of attorney Scott Rothstein while, federal agents say, he ran a $1 billion Ponzi scheme.

Rothstein has not been charged or arrested, but federal agents seized his assets this week.

Records released Friday show the off-duty work by Fort Lauderdale police at Rothstein's home in Harbor Beach, his Bova Prime restaurant on Las Olas, and the nearby Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler law firm was so heavy, it required two police officials to coordinate. Rothstein's cadre of uniformed officers included many high-ranking supervisors in the department. Two coordinators, Sgt. Steve Greenlaw and Officer DeAnna Garcia, were paid a 5.5 percent cut of the security-guarding total each week.

As Broward County absorbs the shocking allegations in the case, new attention has turned to Rothstein's coziness with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and to one official at Broward Sheriff's Office. Rothstein's friendship with officers and deputies dates back 20 years, with his work as a labor attorney representing police officers and unions. At least one investor said he bragged about his closeness to law enforcement.

Fort Lauderdale police officials said Friday that their officers were not witnesses to criminal activity during their 24-hour work for Rothstein, and no officer raised any concerns that an investigation into economic crimes might be warranted.

"There is no police department employee that had any idea what was going on, to my knowledge," said Sousa, the spokesman, who worked at Rothstein's home several times and filled in occasionally at Bova. "… There is no wrongdoing on the part of our officers."

Rothstein was the only person in the department's history to have permanent round-the-clock off-duty police protection at his home. Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderley said he stands by his decision to allow the one-of-a-kind guard duty. Rothstein met the city policy that the employer not be a felon, and be of good moral character, he said.

Rothstein paid $40 to $50 an hour to the officers over 31 weeks beginning in April. At a weekly tab of at least $7,545 just for guarding his home, and $2,000 a week at the law firm, the total would have hit $296,000 by the time it ended. He also spent at least $31,620 for the Bova detail.

The department halted all work for Rothstein on Nov. 2, after investors raised concerns that the attorney may have misappropriated hundreds of millions of dollars.

Adderley said he was friendly with Rothstein, ate at Bova every Thursday and attended a political fund-raising party at his home but didn't socialize with him.

He said he knew Rothstein gave money to the poor and had no evidence he was "anything less than a good citizen." He didn't see this coming and was shocked when allegations came to light.

"Who is not shocked by this?" Adderley said.

Friday, Rothstein remained a free man, as federal agents said they were working to build a case in what is now thought to be one of South Florida largest investment frauds.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Leljedal said the agency did no off-duty detail work for Rothstein. But Rothstein's ties to at least one Sheriff's Office employee are under scrutiny this week.

Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti on Thursday moved one of Rothstein's longtime friends, Lt. David Benjamin, out of his position as commander over Internal Affairs, because of his relationship with Rothstein. Benjamin provided a personal escort to Rothstein to get aboard a jet and leave the country to Morocco two weeks ago.

Lamberti said the Sheriff's Office also opened an investigation Friday into a corporation Benjamin has, DWB Consulting Group LLC, "to determine whether his outside business met all the BSO rules and regulations regarding outside employment."

Political consultant and former Rothstein associate Roger Stone said he met Benjamin and Col. Tom Wheeler of the Sheriff's Office at Rothstein's home last year. They were planning Lamberti's election campaign.

Stone said he originally thought Rothstein's desire to be surrounded by officers was part of the trappings of wealth and power. Now he thinks Rothstein might have been threatened by investors. He called Rothstein's police connections "genius."

"If you're surrounded by cops, no one will suspect you're a crook," said Stone.

Rothstein said this summer that the March 2008 murder of his friend and colleague, Melissa Britt Lewis, scared him into hiring full-time police guards, though he'd had bodyguards in the past.

"I am a businessman," he said. "I don't want to be followed home and shot."

I am amazed that anyone in this agency has the nerve to take cheap shots at anyone including an accomplished 40 year veteran Police Officer / New Chief.

This place is filled with angry, racist, sexist, steroid using, criminals with badges ! All of them have been fortunate enough to keep their jobs for way too long. It is embarrassing and frustrating.

Yet theses are the first ones to take cheap shots at someone else. I guess it takes everyone's attention off them, for now......

Maybe a few of the good cops in this place can finally be acknowledged and maybe even promoted.

I know you both have your personal interests at heart but stop falsely representing all of in the name of the PBA with misrepresentations. You don’t even have the DC name correct. So here we go again. Another day - another dead resident of West Palm Beach. The body count keeps rising while special interest groups with personal agendas try to delay the confirmation of the new Police Chief.

Each and every Commissioner of West Palm Beach needs to stop worrying about re-election and get down to supporting Mayor Keith James right now! Further delays will only add to the already unacceptable body count.

Frank Adderly is a great choice to head the West Palm Beach Police Department and a large majority of the police department supports his appointment and is ready for him to take over.

Lets get going City Commission and approve the Mayor's pick for Police Chief !

REMARK ON CHIEF'S WIFE TAKES JUDGE OFF CASE
Tonya Alanez Staff Writer
SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL

The judge presiding over the shooting case of the Fort Lauderdale police chief's wife has recused himself after telling lawyers he would insist on Eleanor "Leisa" Adderley serving some time in prison.

Related paperwork has parted the curtain of secrecy enveloping plea negotiations, and shown what kind of punishment prosecutors and defense lawyers have been talking about.

Under state sentencing guidelines, Adderley, 45, faces a mandatory-minimum sentence of 20 years in prison for firing a bullet into the bed at their Plantation home in July while her husband, Frank Adderley, lay in it, then firing twice more as he ran to a neighbor's house.

The chief's wife was upset over an alleged affair her husband had had earlier, court records say.

Sentencing guidelines, though, are subject to modification at prosecutors' discretion.

And for months, Eleanor Adderley's defense attorney, David Bogenschutz, and prosecutor Sarahnell Murphy have been trying to hammer out a plea deal.

Adderley is charged with two felonies: aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into a dwelling.

At an April 16 hearing, the lawyers told Circuit Judge Matthew Destry that the prosecution was ready to waive the minimum 20-year prison sentence.

They wanted to know if Destry would consider alternative sentences that lawyers from both sides had agreed to ranging from nine months in the county jail to 30 months in prison.

Destry said he would send Adderley to prison, though he admitted to not knowing much about the specifics of the case.

A hearing to settle the matter was supposed to be held today.

On April 24, however, Bogenschutz filed a motion asking the judge to disqualify himself, saying his client was "fearful that the court has demonstrated that it has prejudged this matter ... and will not act in a fair and impartial manner at sentencing."

Four days later, Destry agreed to quit the case, saying: "this court does not believe a county jail sentence to be appropriate if the facts as alleged are pled to or borne out at trial."

Today's plea hearing has been canceled until a new judge can be assigned.
