Greetings,

I am interested in knowing more about OIG. What are your work hours? Uniforms? Grooming appearance policies? Take home vehicles and if so, do you drive marked units? Are off duty/overtime opportunities scarce? And what is the rate?

I am interested in knowing for the South Florida offices such as Broward and Miami Dade areas. Thank you.

The only law enforcement investigator positions in the Office of Attorney General are located within the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. The unit enforces criminal laws under Medicaid, mostly for providers. They issue a Glock sidearm, a take home car, and the standard dress is business casual/attire. They work mostly Monday - Friday and DO NOT issue overtime. Instead they give you comp time. The office is very political. Our office had three that were chosen a year ago. They are still waiting to hear something back from the agency. We lost all of the candidates to other agencies. There were other offices that chose candidates throughout the state but have lost them due to an inefficient timely response back. Within the past few years this has never happened. It has only happened in the last two years. The office statewide has yet to hire anyone in the last year. In the last year the office statewide has had to give up close to 30 investigator positions for many reasons. The office is nice and the people that work in the offices are great but I would say because of the political climate in hiring personnel as well as the issue of Medicaid nationally, it will be a matter of time before they become merged or possibly ended. Hope this answers your questions.

Can you conduct traffic stops? Limited police authority on specific medicaid fraud related offenses or all criminal laws of FL? Jurisdiction limit?

How is the off duty?
