It appears that a probationary deputy has lost his / her job for calling a citizen off duty. The report would lead you to believe he / she most likely got the phone number from the report he / she took or call he / she handled. He this deputy been off probation, they probably would have gotten away with it.
My question is what's worse, this use of a phone number to call someone for a possible date? (Was there a body camera at the time of the original call that could shed some light on the possible "flirtation" that may have taken place)?
Is that worse than the Under-Sheriff, using his political influence to get his son released from the jail early? Only to receive a written reprimand?
Is that worse than a Captain having a well know affair while married with another co-worker and when it got too hot in the kitchen for sheriff mike, he got to resign?
Is that worse than a fellow deputy, working off a political agenda, to make a FALSE DUI arrest of a fellow deputy, only to have the entire case settled by a lawsuit? That politically motivated deputy received NO disciple and is now a lieutenant?
I'm not condoning what the rookie did, but simply questioning the equal a fair application of discipline at this department (non-Union)....
