I would like to leave some positive feedback for this agency. Regardless of its troubled past, to which isnt trully horrible, this agency has began to make strides. To start, hiring a new qualified administration that realized the grass is greener where you water it, not on the other side. With a stong leadership, department deficiencies where realized and action has been taken. A deteriorating fleet will be given new life. New officers are on their way in, the first time in years. New systems are on their way. All this without crippling the City's finances and a lot of hard work. The once "joke" of an agency is once again going to be a desired career opportunity due to the dedication of not only the new administration but the once oppressed Officers who can finally breath. A family has finally been restored. A family that can provide professional services to the City of Port Richey without worry. All it takes is the right leadership.

Sentiments written either by the Chief or the so called Captain. Must be the Captain since the new Chief probably doesn't know how to turn on his computer. When the Mayor is ousted in the electiob it will be a reborn department when the puppets will be gone. My suggestion for the new Mayor is shut it down and let someone else take over who can handle it. The surrounding agencies may stop laughing. Do it for the few remaining officers with integrity that would get absorbed and the others will be working as Walmart security.

Heard the former Chief has been requested to return. If not him the former Captain.

That would be the only hope for that place...as they need someone who has the ability to lead. Wasn't their new captain one of their patrol officers about a year ago? And their chief a part time officer there about five years ago? What kind of police department does that? It's decisions like that which keeps giving their agency a bad name. They had a well respected chief and captain and, from what I understand, the mayor and council threatened to cut their budget, to the point of endangering the officers, to get rid of the two. They need to bring the previous administration back and get rid of the few bad apple officers they have. There's still a few good guys there but they won't stay in that situation long.

All it takes is to speak to 90% of the people who work there now to know it's a joke. They're miserable and it all starts at the top two. I hear people who have been the center of controversy, discipline, and investigations are now coddled and given promotions. There's about three officers left that are happy, and that's because they've been given everything they want. Just call it a day already, so the few officers there that have any credibility can get absorbed and get away from the stigma.

First time I've seen a polo shirt with giant captain bars on the collar in my 15+ years. And four stars for someone who's never been a senior officer. That just screams "my way or no way". I can't imagine how their troops are treated. Especially the ones that are legitimate. Good luck.

Unless you work there its not your life. It seems like a lot of outside opinions are pouring in. To say the previous administration can clean it up is absolutely ridiculous. They left the department in shambles. A dying fleet, a communications center needing a desperate revamp and employees who hated coming to work. Now this posion, unsupportive leaches who think they know something or someone. Who ever you all are, you need to rethink your own life and leave those trying to protect others alone.

Are you kidding me? I'm not saying the previous administration is the answer, but you have a bully patrol officer with gold bars running the show there like someone stole his lunch money his whole life. You ask some of those guys on the streets how things are going and they just shut down like a puppy that's been kicked. I hear everyone, except a *cough cough, hard to say* detective and one officer, is miserable coming to work now. They just don't want to be targeted, so they wear a fake smile. You must be one of the two people that I hear gets whatever they want. And we've all seen your admin. They and a detective spend all their time trying to show everyone their rank at our agencies. Just like everyone can tell when morale is at an all time low at our agencies, we can tell when it is at yours. It'll be ok though. I'm sure it'll get better when they're all ordered to love their leadership or leave.

The last administration didn't "leave" anything. Again, some of us watch your council meetings and are very familiar with your city's antics and are familiar with your officers. Tell me what other city would have even entertained the idea of this current administration, given their lack of experience. I'm not even a cop, but based on your city's standards maybe I can be hired as a colonel or major there. Your mayor cared so much for your police that he was willing to jeopardize their safety and the citizens safety just to get rid of the previous chief because he wasn't a good ole boy and didn't play ball. I distinctly remember watching him say, 'we only need two officers at a time'. And i remember watching the previous chief tell him he would not risk the lives of his officers and the citizens by reducing to those levels. If you're going to try to be convincing, at least be honest and know what you're saying.

What we have here are butt hurt individuals making it worse for everyone. Ones for or against the current administration. Instead of causing issues be a resolution. Nobody is perfect, previous administrations have had their issues. Its no lie that the department is working through things. The current Chief and Captain have major obstacles to work through and at least they are trying. The problem is that the department is small. Everything anyone says is out for everyone to know. The officers need to realize that not everyone can be happy but a job needs to be done here. Everyone there is an adult and needs to start acting like it. And for those outsiders, the drama needs to stop.

From what I've read on this thread, it appears the administration may have some favorites that are getting things that aren't deserved. The above comment is certainly correct in that everyone should be adult in the law enforcement profession. My question is... is the current administration being fair with ALL their officers? It seems like that is the underlying problem based on these comments. It also appears they have a captain being a tyrant. The chief should be all over that if it's the case. That is a good way to create mutiny, and mutiny is a CAREER KILLER. I've seen it many times and I believe you guys had a captain like that before. I also remember your agency having a vote of no confidence for this exact same situation that ended their careers and left a terrible mark on them. YOU CAN'T ORDER RESPECT. That will end your career. It must BE EARNED. You can't tell them, 'love us or you'll be gone'. Do what's right by all and not just a few. I've worked for small agencies and they can be difficult. Everything the brass does is scrutinized because in small agencies it's directly in each officers face. Now I've also read, in the above posts, a few officers there are less than reputable due to previous actions. My advice, should your admin be reading this post, is remember that your officers KNOW who did what and it can't be hidden away. Especially if you're going above and beyond for those questionable individuals. Remember that if you, as a chief, captain, or lieutenant, go to any other agency, they're going to look at the actions you took in the past. They're going to think you themselves, "if he made poor choices at a small agency, what damage can his choices do to this one?", and that is how you'll be remembered. It's never too late to tell the troops that you may have made some poor decisions, BUT you're going to do the right thing by them. But, if you say it, do it. I've met most of the officers there and you guys have acquired some real talent over the last few years, as well as some good veterans. I'll agree that you guys have a couple people that should not be in the positions they're in, or possibly even in this profession. And if an outsider knows that, then how do you think your current officers feel? Just a little helpful advice. And guys, if the brass shows they are going to fix their mistakes, give them respect for that. Good luck, stay safe, watch each other's back, and I hope your brass gets it right eventually.

Get them Noah- didn't take long for him to show that this so called Chief is clueless and possible corrupt. Why would he protect his Captain boy toy so much? Perhaps you are worried he may throw you under the bus if you expose him. Corruption at its finest at PRPD. It didn't take long for this agency to go back to its old ways. PR Council and citizens do everyone a favor and get rid of this agency. Not worth the expense.

The fact is, they have (had) some good officers. But I've heard they're targeting and getting rid of anyone that does the right thing instead of being good little corrupt puppets to the current admin. How many good cops are gone now under their new admin? And now this? My bet is the cops that left under this admin knew something they didn't want out. I've followed that agency from the impound lot scandal forward. Then they fixed that black eye and had a professional interim chief who hand picked a professional previous chief. Just watch the council meetings and follow the favors. I also remember watching two of their officers at a council meeting holding the this chief and captain upon a pedestal, and praising their professionalism and integrity. Well we all see that quality now(insert sarcasm). If they don't put a legitimate administrative staff with the necessary qualifications in place again, the place will implode. Hopefully the cops that are gone under the new administration left on their own, and their careers weren't destroyed by incompetence and lack of qualification.

"Do you know about public record law?"

"I do now"

That's their chief. How can you possibly be the chief of police and say that? Your citizens should be furious that he was placed as chief by the mayor, as well as his second in command. Both are clearly not educated or qualified enough to command. You can clearly tell the back pedaling and cover up. Just listen to the constant, "I DIDN'T DO IT". And here's a good question... he kept saying there were disciplinary files missing when he got there. How exactly does he know that? If there weren't disciplinary files there when he took over, then which ones are he saying were missing? And where's the captain in this interview? He's in charge of the files according to the chief. Noah is right. Smells, looks, feels, and sounds like a cover up of felonious activity.

This interview was almost insulting to any real leo. This was 'basic cop 101'. The stammering, the constant deflection in the answers, the body language, the repetitive answers. Give me a break. I have bad news for this threads original author. Not even close to an "agency reborn." Sounds like the same original group of problems to me. And hopefully FDLE or the FBI's public corruption division begins knocking on doors.

The news will post a story without all the facts to get ratings. Doesnt make it fake, just not correct. I dont see where this story got twisted to the Captain. Reporter Noah was going after the main man then puts it on the Captian becauses he is leaving? Something is up there..... Nothing that the city called for in the investigation implemented the Captian, just the Chief. Other than the Captain takes over inital review of discipline. At least thats the way it was put in previous articles doesnt blame him. Dont shame someone for leaving. Also, its been a while for FDLE. Shouldn't they be done?

He was at the very center of it, and got out of town as quickly as he could when he saw the writing on the wall. Resigning for personal family reasons?? How convenient. And my guess would be he's going to spill the beans on JC and GD. Like the last person posted, "one down". Now about 3 or 4 more to go. Hopefully FDLE cleans all the bad apples out of there.

They've been investigating this since April, haven't they? Looks like another thing will be swept under the rug in Port Richey. I have no idea how this city continues to get away with things. But, at least one of the Shady Bunch is gone. Just too bad the others will get away with it. What a shame. It's a nice city with endless potential. But it's the same story here, over and over and over. Same city leaders over and over again. What a coincidence.
