There appears to be another super-secret investigation going on that may center around that traffic arrest two officers received Police Officer of the Month for a couple months ago. Remember the 39 that said “I can kick your ass with both hands tied behind my back”? Well…………… obviously he can’t and he has the pictures to prove it. Technically he may have been correct, if they had tied his hands with rope he may have pulled it off but they cuffed his hands (that’s the technicality) and he couldn’t pull it off……………Oh well. Just another example of your mouth writing checks your ass can’t cash.
Anyway, this case got to the SAO and there seems to be a lot of worry there. The subject seems to have hired himself a good attorney, an expensive attorney, an experienced attorney and that attorney smells money in this arrest.
You wonder how a simple arrest can mean money for the bad guy? It’s not the arrest as much as the handling of the crime scene after the fact. It seems they contacted Lt. A Anon. Friend of 80 proof who immediately left bar number 3 and made his way to the crime scene to supervise it. His arrival would have been sooner but when you weave the vehicle driving to the crime scene, it often doubles or triples the distance. Also, stopping for green lights and napping at intersections affects your ETA. Thank God for take home DB units……………you can run red lights, speed, drive off the road, and other things……………and if you are stopped, you can bad breath your way out of it. Anyway, he made pretty good time.
Upon arrival he goes into his CSI (Can’t Seem to Investigate) mode. He loiters around for about 3 - 4 cigarettes, tells someone else they are in charge and immediately leaves the scene to look for the bad guys at some dive bar much like O.J. looks for murderers at high end golf clubs. Time and a half on a 4-hour call back at a lieutenant’s pay has just about covered his bar bills for the night.
Butterball seems to be intimidated by, and in awe of, these obviously elite supervisory investigative skills so he never shows up on major scenes. Not showing up to supervise means no decisions, something he is known for throughout NBV.
DB is supposed to organize the investigation and assist in gathering evidence but not with drunken master in charge. The SAO is shocked over the way the crime scene is so poorly attended to since there wasn’t an area canvas for security camera tapes at the area condos ……………that area non-canvas was on account of not wanting others to see the subject’s beating on tape.
To recap: extreme shortcomings in scene processing, improper or possible illegal searching of the vehicle, allowing the expectant mom of the baby daddy to give a coerced statement under a false name and under duress, then forcing her to walk home, along with an extreme delay in sending pumpkin head (affectionate name due to swelling) to the hospital for medical care, thus delaying the blood test for alcohol or drugs that could make the criminal charges believable all make an incredibly fantastic case of amazing investigative processing. Oh, oh, I forgot, there were no requests for any additional blood tests.
Pumpkin Head’s attorney is aware of this and much more so I can tell you how this will work out……………ALL CHARGES DISMISSED WITH A LARGE CASH AWARD FOR BOTH PARTIES after a short civil suit.
