Just curious as to your thoughts of an Assistant Chief being brought in from the outside?

The agency might be able to use some eyes form the outside just for a different perspective. Many talented officers at North Port but someone form the outside, larger agency, make sense as North Port has grown to a major city. Good luck

If the city is hoping to change things within the dept, morale, discipline etc. Why bring in an outsider to be only the deputy chief? If I were bringing in an outsider it would be in the chiefs place. This new deputy chief could have all the solutions in the world to fix things but if the chief doesn't want to change then nothing will and if the chief wants to make things better then what's he waiting on? Perhaps the chief is liked by his boss and they want to keep him, but the chief doesn't have the solutions so they will reply on the deputy chief to do this? Seems strange.
