Brian Nobles, 33, accused of punching, choking slapping girlfriend in front of victim's son

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. -
A Miami-Dade County corrections sergeant is being held in jail on a $7,000 bond after he allegedly beat his girlfriend.

Brian Nobles, 33, was arrested Sunday on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, domestic battery by strangulation and battery.

According to an arrest report, Nobles got angry after his girlfriend told him that she wanted to leave him Friday night.

Police said Nobles was drinking alcohol, and began poking the victim in her left eye. Officers said he also punched, choked and slapped the victim while the victim's child yelled at him to stop hitting his mother.

Detectives said the woman claimed Nobles had beaten her several times before.

She claimed they got into an argument on a morning in May inside the parking lot of the Metro West Detention Center where they both work. She said she struck Nobles on the lip after he battered her.

Police said the victim was off duty at the time and trying to leave, and Nobles was on duty.

According to the report, Nobles attempted to rip the woman's work shirt off and reached into her glove box, grabbed her handgun and told her he would shoot her with the gun or she could take it away and kill him.

Detectives said the woman also claimed that Nobles assaulted her at her home on April 3. In that incident, she said they got into an argument and Nobles choked her with his hands. She said she fell on the ground and he got on top of her, slapping her on the face and striking her on her ribs.

Police said the victim decided to come forward out of fear for her safety and said she was tired of the abuse.

Nobles is relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

A judge issued a stay-away order for the victim once Nobles bonds out of jail.
